This week on the Silver Emulsion Podcast, Stephen and I take a deep dive into a world that is near and dear to my heart: Stephen King’s Dark Tower! Critics and audiences were both very harsh to Nikolaj Arcel’s 2017 take on the series, and it’s a shame; I want the sequels! Listen and enjoy! 🙂

Guys, what’s up, once again I lost a long ass message I had typed up here prior to my “The Dark Tower” viewing, and post-listen to your 2:20 minute!, Podcast! Anyways, long time no listen etc. etc. but yeah Sweet Film. I have not read any of the novels other than parts of the first one, recently I did complete my graphic novel from master Artist Jae Lee of “The Dark Tower” called “Treachery”, definitely check out that prequel series if you haven’t had the chance.
Well, yeah this movie reminded me of “The Matrix” quite a bit for some reason. The kid is a good actor and I’m not usually into kid performances, he reminds me of the youngest son from the show “Weeds” a lot and seriously I would not be surprised if they are related. Other thoughts, 90 minutes is a really short for a Movie that’s following a career spanning series, really wished they would have given a lot more breathing room for world building and just getting a feel for the environments. Being someone who hasn’t read the novels I’d really appreciate a Director’s Cut to really let things breathe more, that would be Awesome.
Oh, I didn’t mention that I did also read the Screenplay!, almost a year ago now, so I did have somewhat of an idea as to what to expect. That was a fun read, I remember the boy dying at the end of it though if my memory serves me correctly; it was a bummer although there was something at the last moment about resurrecting him or something.
Well, that’s it for now, I did find a Positive review online (after an extensive search): 1428elm.com/2017/08/04/dark-tower-movie-incredibly-badass-idris-elba
Lastly, do check out that Album by the band Demons and Wizards called “Touched by the Crimson King”, Jon Schaffer from I. Earth is the Guitarist and Hansi Kursch from Blind Guardian is the Singer. They are currently working on their third album as we speak, the first being back in 1999’ish. Glad you guy’s got a Cool Modern Movie for the first time in a while! + Nick +
