LIST UPDATED WITH NEW MOVIES!!! 03/01/18
If you didn’t already know, Celestial has made many Shaw Brothers films available via iTunes! They’re beautiful HD-quality videos, and in many instances the film comes with both subtitled and dubbed versions. Certain movies — such as one of my favorites Vengeance! — even make their North American debut (unless Vengeance! had some VHS release I’m not aware of). In any case, if you’re a Shaw Brothers fan this is a fantastic way to build up your collection with many films not available on Region 1 DVD or Blu-ray. The films are also available on other International iTunes stores, and I’ve been told that these links will work around the world, so get clickin’!
But if you’ve used iTunes before, then you know that the search function is far from perfect. Manually searching for all the Shaw Brothers movies can be a real chore, so that’s why I’m providing a list of all the films currently available, as well as direct links to them on iTunes! I update this periodically, too, as new films are added to the service.
Pricing varies depending on when Celestial uploaded them to iTunes. Older releases are: Rentals for $2.99 SD or $3.99 HD, while purchasing runs $4.99 SD or $7.99 HD. The newer releases are priced as follows: Rentals for $3.99 SD or $3.99 HD, while purchasing runs $5.99 SD or $9.99 HD. There have been sales in the past (such as a $0.99 rental of 36th Chamber of Shaolin), so if you’re an interested fan, you should definitely like Celestial’s Shaw Brothers Facebook page so you don’t miss any deals!
This list has grown a lot since I first made it. In the coming updates I will make it more readable in a format similar to my hub page for the Shaw Brothers review series.

That’s a whole lot of Shaw Brothers!
I am a big fan of Shaw Brothers films, and this is very exciting stuff!
Glad to meet another fan! This definitely is exciting, and I hope they continue to release more films previously only available in Hong Kong. Thanks for coming by and commenting!
And they work on UK iTunes too! This is amazing news as there are very few Shaw Brothers titles released in the UK. I don’t need to expensively import region 1 DVD’s anymore!
Thanks and I love the site by the way. I only started checking it out recently after guesting on the LAMBcast with you (or one of you – however your site works!)
That is awesome! Importing is fun, but definitely expensive. Glad you like the site, too!
I’m in Australia, so should I use the Australian iTunes or the default US version?
Hmmm, I don’t know! I would guess if you’re in Australia you’d go with the Australian iTunes, but I really have no idea. From what I understand, I think the same movies are available in all of the International iTunes stores, so I’d just use whatever you normally use. The links I have here are all for the US store, so you might have to search for the movies on your iTunes if the links don’t work.
So far I’ve only bought “7 Man Army” but after watching it in HD on my iPad I was extremely impressed. I intend to work my way down the list and eventually finish watching them all (even though I’ve already seen a number of them)
Cool! The videos do look pretty nice, don’t they? Have fun working your way through the list! I’ve actually found a few more that aren’t listed here, I’ll have to do an update when I get the chance.
Thanks very much for the update! It certainly helps to know which ones are on there for easier access.
Damn, that’s a lot already… currently wondering how I can afford them all… lol.
Yeah, and they keep adding to it pretty regularly. I’d love to see the whole library up for sale there eventually. That’ll really add up!
Thanks a lot for updating this list. It’s so hard to find anything in the iTunes store.
No problem! In the future, I’m going to try to do it more often than every 5–6 months.
They seem to all be available on Google Play too now (at least in the UK) at a lower price than iTunes.
Yes I believe all the same movies are available on Google Play in the US as well. But unless something has changed, the iTunes versions were the only ones that had audio options, meaning always original audio and subtitles plus an English dubbed track when available. I haven’t checked in a while so maybe they’ve changed it, though.
Hmmm, it only lists English audio on Google Play, unless they don’t advertise the fact that there’s a choice. I’m tempted to rent one just to see for sure. I’d rather have the films through Google because I’ve got Chromecast rather than Apple TV, on top of the price difference. I’ll report back if I get around to trying it out.
Yeah, I’ve been tempted to do the same! About a year or so ago, I was in contact with a rep from Celestial and I asked them about it. She said they had no control over which languages went to which platforms. Doesn’t make a lot of sense to me. Maybe some platforms don’t have a way of switching audio streams? I don’t know. Anyway, if you try it, let me know the results!
